Tribeca Film Fest 2008
Hello,
My first official public post! I thought that I would drop notes/thoughts on the films I'm going to see this year. My first Tribeca Film Fest (TFF), I only saw one film. The following year I skipped as I wasn't able to fit it into my schedule. Last year I saw 5 films, one of which I absolutely loved. This year I signed up for a ticket package for 10 films, which then somehow blew up into 17 films! Since there are so many, I wanted to keep track here thru my blogging.
Okay day 1. Bitter and Twisted.
Bitter and Twisted is a heavy little movie written and directed by Christopher Weekes in which he also plays one of the main characters. The director revealed at the end that he'd written a quirky screenplay involving the characters but 6mos later his mother passed away and he began wrtiing the script to focus more on grief and relationships. There is definitely an overwhelming feeling of grief and loss and numbness played out by the actors and even in their surroundings with somewhat realistic resolutions towards the end. I appreciated the director's not "dumbing" down some of the elements and letting conclusions be drawn by the viewer. I really enjoyed this film. Overall I'll give it a 4/5. Uh, Points? (stars? big dicks?).
